Panasonic aims for Green at GITEX

DUBAI – Panasonic Marketing Middle East FZE (PMM) on 19 October 2010 announced the ‘Eco Ideas Declaration’ for the Middle East and Africa region at (Persian) Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), the region’s premier IT exhibition held from 17-21 October.
By adopting the declaration, Panasonic aims to become the number one green innovation company in the electronics industry in the Middle East as part of Panasonic's group-wide global commitment to drive eco-innovation by 2018, the 100th anniversary of its foundation.To achieve this goal, the company is pursuing its Eco Ideas for lifestyles by promoting sustainable and comfortable green lifestyles as well as Eco Ideas for Business-styles with aims to reduce the environmental impact of its operations to a maximum extent and spread technologies and ideas that are brought forth through such reduction efforts. Panasonic is combining these environmental efforts and business growth.

------------Eco Ideas for Lifestyles:
Panasonic aims to double the regional sales of Superior Green Products by March 2013. Superior Green Products, which have been internally certified by Panasonic, are those that have achieved the industry's top environmental performance in terms of energy saving, effective utilization of resources and the management of chemical substances.
Panasonic aims to educate 100,000 of its customers in the next three years by celebrating Green day on the first Friday of every month at 30 of its exclusive showrooms in the Middle East. Furthermore, 14 showrooms across the region will be kitted out with Eco Kiosks.
Customers enrolled for Panasonic’s ‘Plus Card’ loyalty program and school children will be educated by the showroom staff and eco-booklets will also be made available. The aim of the program is to raise awareness on energy and water conservation, and waste management.
---------Eco Ideas for Business-styles:
The Eco Ideas for Business-styles include the Lake Victoria Catchment Environmental Education Program in Africa, two scholarships to students of Abu Dhabi University, an ‘Eco Picture Diary Contest’ aimed at encouraging 6-12 year old children to learn more about protecting the environment globally which is being introduced in this region by PMM in UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman and Lebanon, Earth Lunch Hour where all 176 employees from 20 different nationalities will enjoy lunch which will be made of organic ingredients using energy efficient cooking methods
